Resting state fMRI brain mapping in pediatric supratentorial brain tumors

چکیده

Abstract Background Functional mapping of eloquent brain areas is crucial for preoperative planning in patients with tumors. Resting state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) allows the localization without need task performance, making it well-suited pediatric population. In this study independent component analysis (ICA) rs-fMRI results are reported a group 22 supratentorial Additionally, connectivity (FC) maps sensori-motor network (SMN) obtained using ICA and seed-based (SBA) compared. Results Different resting networks (RSNs) were extracted varying levels sensitivity, notably, SMN was identified 100% patients, followed by Default mode (DMN) (91%) Language (80%). FC SBA more extensive (mean volume = 25,288.36 mm 3 , standard deviation 13,364.36 ) than those found on 13,403.27 9755.661 ). This confirmed statistical Wilcoxon signed rank t test at p < 0.01. Conclusions clearly demonstrate successful applicability localizing different assessment areas, thus represent further step integration computational radiology research clinical setting.

Brain Connections – Resting State fMRI Functional Connectivity

With the introduction of electroencephalography (EEG) in 1930, researchers began to explore spontaneous activity in the brain by recording the individual, independently of any task. Subsequently, evoked potential studies, where electrical potentials were recorded at the onset of a stimulus, marked a milestone in brain research. Utilizing such methods coupled with experimental psychology, resear...

Brain tumors disrupt the resting-state connectome

Brain tumor patients often experience functional deficits that extend beyond the tumor site. While resting-state functional MRI (rsfMRI) has been used to map such functional connectivity changes in brain tumor patients, the interplay between abnormal tumor vasculature and the rsfMRI signal is still not well understood. Therefore, there is an exigent need for new tools to elucidate how the blood...

Multiregional integration in the brain during resting-state fMRI activity

Data-driven models of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) activity can elucidate dependencies that involve the combination of multiple brain regions. Activity in some regions during resting-state fMRI can be predicted with high accuracy from the activities of other regions. However, it remains unclear in which regions activity depends on unique integration of multiple predictor regions...

Correcting Brain-Wide Correlation Differences in Resting-State FMRI

Brain function in "resting" state has been extensively studied with functional magnetic resonance imaging (FMRI). However, drawing valid inferences, particularly for group comparisons, is fraught with pitfalls. Differing levels of brain-wide correlations can confound group comparisons. Global signal regression (GSReg) attempts to reduce this confound and is commonly used, even though it differe...
